How to read M.A.C makeup code?

Every M.A.C item comes with a code. Have u ever wonder what those codes mean?

Nowadays, buying and selling preloved items become common among makeupgeeks. But is it worth to pay for something that already pass their expiry date? So, let's learn on how to read the code! It's super easy!

Usually if u buy a new item, u can see the manufactured date written on the packaging. However not everyone will keep the box for years. The code at the bottom is one of the way on how u will know when was the item been manufactured.

B-2ND BATCH

B-MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER

2-MANUFACTURED IN 2012

As you can see in the picture, the code consists of 3 (digit combined with alphabet).

The first code will show you the batch. From what i read, there are total of 3 batches.

A- 1ST BATCH

B- 2ND BATCH

C- 3RD BATCH

The 2nd code represent the MONTH of the item been manufactured.

JANUARY-1

FEBRUARY-2

MARCH-3

APRIL-4

MAY-5

JUNE-6

JULY-7

AUGUST-8

SEPTEMBER-9

OCTOBER-A

NOVEMBER-B

DECEMBER-C

The 3rd code represent the year of the item produced.

For lipstick faux here..the code is A84

4-MANUFACTURED IN YEAR 2014

However..latest production of MAC lipstick didn't has a same print as before. If you look carefully, there's a code that was carved over the word MEHR. It's pretty hard to read.

When i try to compare with the manufactured date over the box, i found that the manufactured month is 1 month different compared to the code.

For example, the code for mac lipstick above is A55 which means 1st batch,manufactured in may 2015. 

But over the box written that the manufactured date is in June 2015. Only 1 month different by the way.Heh!
